Overview

Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) provides leadership in executing strategies to drive revenue growth while enhancing the guest experience and optimizing business operations.  The CCO will bring a strong foundation in revenue development and a demonstrated ability to create new economic value for the organization through innovation and entrepreneurialism. The CCO will lead in developing a positive work environment and a culture that enables employees to perform at peak levels. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees business development, real estate, concessions, rental cars, parking, air service development, marketing and communications, contract and lease management, negotiation, and aero and non-aeronautical revenue generation.
  • Represent the organization as the commercial development leader by advocating, communicating, and supporting the authority's strategic direction, priorities, goals, vision, mission, and values.
  • Source, attract, negotiate, and build strong relationships with airlines and business enterprises to offer enhanced services and amenities for airport users and exceed business objectives.
  • Provide effective leadership, support, and development of the department employees, including performance management, inspiration, coaching, training, and accountability.
  • Acts as a strategic business partner to internal stakeholders to identify, plan, and assist with quantitative analysis for strategic decision making on business initiatives; communicates results in written, visual, or verbal format throughout all organizational levels.
  • Participates in establishing and adopting an enterprise business intelligence ecosystem that integrates data visualization, predictive modeling, and advanced analytics to inform revenue and operational strategies.
  • Leverage data analytics, scorecards, and market intelligence sources to forecast industry and organizational trends and inform senior leaders of impacts.
  • Interact with economic developers, real estate professionals, legal counsel, and property owners concerning businesses and development projects.
  • Create business plans that include increasing revenue, planning, developing, and overseeing business expansion and/or replacement.
  • Explore innovative revenue models, customer programs, and pricing methodologies, tailored to meet evolving passenger preferences.
  • Oversees planning, development, and implementation of marketing campaigns and strategies to promote GFIA to passengers, commercial air carriers, general aviation, and the business community.  Serves as the primary interface with travel, tourism, and regional businesses in defining and determining air service requirements.
  • Responsible for implementing strategies and campaigns to improve passenger, community, and tenant relations and other business-related matters.
  • Oversees the development, production, and distribution of print, electronic, broadcast, and other marketing and promotional media.
  • Develop and implement strategies to monetize digital traffic on websites and mobile platforms, including targeted advertising, affiliate partnerships, and e-commerce integrations.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Director to develop and apply quality customer service and guest experience standards. Develop standards to ensure tenants and business partners meet or exceed customer service and operational excellence objectives.
  • Under the leadership of the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, assist in managing new and existing air service relationships (commercial carriers and air cargo) for retention and/or expansion while analyzing airport services, aviation issues, and trends to formulate activities related to airport passenger and cargo services development.
  • Oversees the department budget and provides support and guidance for airport expenditures and budgets.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Aviation Management, Marketing, Communications, Finance, Public Administration, or other relevant field combined with seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience, including five (5) years of management experience including budget and fiscal oversight, evaluation of business processes, policy and decision making, and planning and organizing multiple programs, projects, operations or functions; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development, planning, budgeting, business analysis, FAA regulations, and general aviation operations (if new to the aviation industry, this position requires properly identifying areas that require consultation with general counsel or more experienced colleagues).
  • Employees are required to be available and on-call 24 hours per day, seven days per week to respond to irregular operations, airport emergencies, and seasonal weather conditions.
